​Day 42: Topping & Lollipopping (Fire OG From Seed)

In this video you will see how I top and lollipop my plants.

Topping & Lollipopping are forms of Pruning. Pruning is intentionally cutting off bits of your plant that won’t produce quality buds because they won’t receive a proper amount of light. It’s an intimate practice between the gardener and the plant that allows you to closely look at your plants and check up on their health. Removing Low-down branches that receive little sunlight, Leaves that are dying off because of lack of light, & Bud sites that are low down and don’t receive a lot of light.

Topping is the process of pruning the growing tip of the main stem of a cannabis plant.

Removing the terminal bud will encourage the development of two new main colas and promote growth of the lower, secondary branches. The aim is to invert marijuana's natural Christmas tree shape to allow more light penetration.

​Lollipopping is the removal of fluffy, lower bud sites from cannabis plants.

The goal is to focus plant energy on developing big, fat nugs, rather than popcorn buds.
